beyond the books

Beyond the Books – September/ October/ November/December

Hi all! I have barely done anything about this blog this year, and even less since school started for me. So, to get back, I decided to schedule a few posts, write some reviews that I was really badly behind on, and just take some time for myself to get used to going to college again. So, here’s a list of things I did instead of blogging 😉

I did, however, read quite a lot in the time I wasn’t blogging, so I’ll have plenty new reviews to catch up on (it’s an endless cycle isn’t it). I liked how I found myself enjoying a lot of books again when I wasn’t pressured to write about them here. I did miss writing still, so I’m going to be back here again soon 🙂

Beyond the Books is an idea by Catia @The Girl Who Read Too Much. It’s a really nice thing for monthly wrap-ups for anything besides books!

Random things

  • I went to college after 3 years and it’s difficult. It really is and I’m basically using almost all my free time for studying.
  • Besides college, I have a family to care about, which I really felt like I left behind all the time. I just kept studying and not doing fun things in the weekends, which wasn’t really nice
  • I had a hugeass breakdown (okay, I’m lying, I had about 4 or 5 I think. Maybe more.) and I am still hella stressed out about almost everything. I don’t wanna fail at school, I don’t wanna not be there for the kid, and I wish making decisions were easier
  • We went to a Dutch festival thingy called the “Spellenspektakel” which is basically a giant place to buy and try out/play board games. It would’ve been awesome, except for a few thing: me having my first weekend off between two semesters and being DEAD TIRED, The festival being busy as hell and having no place to sit or just rest, and also the busy thing meaning it was just really fucking busy and I can’t really handle that well. It was a nice thing to have seen, but I probably won’t be going next year.
  • I had a vacation in October which was actually really nice. My dad, sisters and I went away for a week, and the second half, my boyfriend and my sister’s boyfriend joined, and we had a good time. I went to a bookstore (of course), and I mostly just kind of rested a bit. Until I found out that I’d been kicked out of my own Netflix account because my sister and her bf thought I was going to make an account for myself, which I told them would maybe happen a month earlier.
  • I had my exams and all other kinds of things I needed to pass, and I got a few really good grades, and passed the entire first semester! In a few weeks I’ll have my exams for the second semester so I hope I can do those as well as this one 🙂
  • I’m VERY addicted to tea, I bought a thermos-can before I went back to school, and now I have a different flavor tea with me every day. It’s glorious, and really helps me to go through the day. I’m currently hooked on Cinnamon, Cinnamon/Apple/Vanilla, and Caramel/Vanilla, Caramelized Pear. So basically, Caramel and Cinnamon are always good ❤
  • December was a pretty busy month for me, since here in the Netherlands, we celebrate Sinterklaas (the Dutch Santa Claus), and the festivities took up one entire Saturday. I had a great time though, so yay
  • Next to Sinterklaas, we had Christmas, meaning there were a few family dinners. One was at my mom’s, where she would meet the kid for the first time. It went quite well, and he behaved nice and we all had a good time. We also had Christmas dinner at my boyfriend’s family, and we all made one part of the meal. It was really nice and all the food was amazing ❤
  • Now we’re ready for New Year’s and we’ll celebrate at my boyfriend’s parents. It’ll also be the one-year-anniversary for us two, so I’m looking forward to that 🙂
  • On January 5th, I’ll move in permanently with my boyfriend and all my books are packed and my shelves are empty and I really don’t like the look of it. However, soon, I’ll have all my books here, sorted by color (man that’ll take a long time again)

TV things

So although I was kicked out of my Netflix, I did make a new one immediately and watched quite some things:

  • Doctor Who: we’ve started season 8 now, and damn do I miss Amy and Rory 😦
  • I showed my boyfriend the first Millennium movie and he liked it 😀 I personally am a huge fan of the movies, so yay!
  • We kind of gave up on Westworld altogether. The first season was amazing, and then the second season was going.. okayish. We watched the first two or three episodes, and then forgot about it. My sister did watch it and after asking her whether it would be worth it or not, we decided we had lots of other -more fun- things to watch
  • I am currently doing a rewatch of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, one of my favorite shows. I watched them all earlier, but I needed something not-too-distracting to have as background for when I’m studying sometimes, and B99 was perfect. For any of you who doesn’t watch it.. GO DO IT!! It’s even better than Parks and Recreation and The Office, in my opinion. I love the humor and the characters and basically I could gush on and on and on about this show
  • I was watching The 100, but since my Netflix was deleted I don’t know what episode I was at lmao. I was watching that one as background first, but then it actually got quite intense so I decided to keep that as a regular show xD

Music things

  • my boyfriend and I got tickets to the Rammstein show so that’s super awesome 😀 I saw them at Graspop in 2017 and they put up one hell of a show so I know it will be good 😀
  • he also got me the new Imagine Dragons CD, which is basically on repeat all the time now. I love the new album and I love him, especially since one of the few bands he absolutely can’t stand is Imagine Dragons. So yeah, #goals

SOOOO did you guys do anything this month? Please tell me about your life, send me pictures of your cat or just talk to me! 😀 I missed blogging a lot, and I tried to keep reading all your posts, but if I missed a few, don’t hesitate to tell me! 🙂

AND ALSO

I want to wish you a very happy new year and wish you all the love and the best in 2019! I plan on working on my blog again and to keep doing good in school, and I hope I’ll be able to keep it up! Do tell me your new-year’s resolutions!

Check out all my reviews here!
